The Rocky statue wasn’t the only thing wearing a marathon shirt for the Gore-Tex Philadelphia Marathon. Runners visiting Philadelphia explored the city, fist-pumped with locals and devoured famous cheese steaks.

Security was tight, but the cheers were loud and friendly.  Colorful, hand-made signs were everywhere to encourage everybody from the first-timers to the experienced champs — like SFMC Team Leader, George Ellis.

George chalked up his sixth marathon in the city of brotherly love with — his brother.  Jimmy Ellis joined his big bro in a weekend of fun, sweat and nuns.  Yep, that’s right, nuns.

George’s family member, Sr. Bernadine Schmalhofer, a Missionary Servant of the Blessed Trinity and her fellow Philly sisters gave both brothers a special boost with a blessing.  It was no surprise that both of them finished with a personal record (PR), a finish that even the Italian Stallion would admire.
