Friends and family members come from all over the area to celebrate holiday festivities. Communities host events such as Christmas tree lightings, light shows, and Christmas parades to bring people in the community even closer!
On November 27, 2015, Reston Town Center held their 25th holiday parade. It is an event that attracts 10,000 people annually. Like other parades, the Reston Town Holiday parade had balloons, antique cars, new-model cars, dancers, and other holiday attractions.
Roberto Goudi, Reston Town Center Association, said, “For me it’s all about community — building community. That’s why we’re so heavily invested in it.”
This event is important to Reston Town Center because it helps raise money for several different charities in the area.
Reston Town Center, is not the only community to have a unique holiday parade. In Manassas, people look forward to the annual Christmas Parade. This year the parade is going to be held at 10:00 a.m. on December 5th. This parade showcases amazing floats, live performances, and other spectacular attractions.
The Bull Run Regional Park’s Festival of Lights has more than 40,000 animated lights on a 2.5 mile road. This event has become a Christmas tradition in Northern Virginia for many people.
