Fighting Hunger through Sculpture

By: Team SFMC — Jillian Noelle Ellis

Earlier this month, Jillian Ellis and Theresa Coates Ellis of Team SFMC spent a Saturday morning with the Bull Run Rotary constructing a sculpture of canned food for the GFWC Woman’s Club’s first annual Extrava-CAN-za Challenge!

Each participating club was responsible for building a Train themed sculpture made from canned goods. When the judging was complete, all of the canned goods were donated to the hungry! It was a creative way for local clubs to help food banks fill their shelves at this time of year.

The Extrava-CAN-za Challenge took place at the 2017 Manassas Railway festival. Attendees enjoyed realistic model train displays, music and food trucks!

Congratulations to the Manasss Lioness Lions Club for winning the Peoples Choice Award and the Lake Jackson Lions Club for receiving the Mayors Award!
