SFMC Sends the Spirit of Home!

By: Team SFMC, Jillian Noelle Ellis — Team SFMC shipped care packages for our troops! They worked with the Bull Run Rotary to collect non perishable food, notes of appreciation and other requested items. The drive was called “Sending the Spirit of Home.”

“Sending the Spirit of Home” collection locations included SFMC Inc. headquarters and Bull Run Foot and Ankle Clinic in Manassas, VA.

The care packages were sent to a United States Air Force base in the Middle East. Packages included games, snacks, and even fake mustaches! (These were a hit!)

The troops were thrilled with the packages! They replied with a special thanks to Team SFMC’s Wendy Bush for a including a Hickory Farm Summer Sausage package. The men and woman ate the treat in less than a minute.

Supplies continue to arrive after weeks of waiting. Mail can take up to a month to arrive!

George Ellis, CEO and his wife Theresa have a special interest in this troop.  The oldest and only son in their family is deployed to this base.

Team SFMC spends Sunday on an airport runway!

By: Team SFMC, Jillian Ellis — It was a beautiful morning last Sunday, perfect for the Manassas Runway 10k/5k and one mile fun run! This event is a favorite in the Northern Virginia area, and benefits go to the Bull Run Rotary club. The race takes place on the runway of Manassas Regional Airport. This flat course is a runner’s dream!

Runner of all ages came to the race to set personal records and see the cool vintage planes!

SFMC Inc was one of the top sponsors for the race. Supporting community events and a healthy lifestyle is very important to us!

SFMC Inc team members and frequent runners, Dana Mirch and George Ellis both ran the 10k in under an hour! Awesome job!

Jillian Ellis, Theresa Coates Ellis and Taylor Vasicek of Team SFMC signed up to volunteer for the race. Jillian suited up as the Easter Bunny and was walked around by Taylor. The Bunny was a dancing machine! After changing into her regular clothes, Jillian could not part with her bunny feet.

Dana finished the race in an amazing time of 50 minutes, drank some water, and immediately made her way over to the volunteer table to help Theresa and Taylor hand out race medals. What a rockstar! We are proud to have her on our team.

After greeting Dana and George at the finish line, Team SFMC enjoyed char burgers from Foster’s Grille. Delicious! The char burger and friendly service are what this Manassas, VA restaurant is known for.

After a fun filled day of running personal records, great food and team bonding, team SFMC is looking forward to many more summer time community events! What events are you looking forward to this summer?
