By: Jillian Ellis, Team SFMC — Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr., a leader in the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. King led a nonviolent movement for racial equality in the United States. This day we honor Dr. King by pausing and reflecting on his life, legacy and achievements.

Here’s a clip from the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech that King gave on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.

Looking for ways to spend your federal holiday? You can visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC. While you are there, walk over to the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King gave his famous speech! For more MLK activities and services, click here.
